Traffic Stop Results in Two Pounds of Marijuana

On 100515 members of the Carter County Sheriff's Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol performed a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 60. The Investigation lead to the recovery of 33.2 ounces (2.075 pounds) of marijuana. Congratulations to Deputy Bratton, Deputy Wilkins and MOHP K-9 DAK for a job well done.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

The Carter County Sheriff's Office would like to announce our participation in this years National Drug Take Back Day. Prescription drug abuse is a huge problem and this is a great opportunity for citizens around the country to help reduce the threat.

A collection site will be set up at the Carter County Sheriff's Office, located at 15 Sycamore Street in Van Buren, Missouri from 10:00 am thru 4:00 pm on Saturday September 26, 2015.

Please clean out your medicine cabinet and make your home safe from drug theft and abuse. No questions will be asked and your dropping off unused medication will be confidential.

No needles or inhalers will be accepted.

Lunch with Hero's Event

Members of the Carter County Sheriff’s Office and the Van Buren Police Department had the honor of attending a “Lunch with Hero’s” event at the Van Buren Children’s Library in Van Buren on July 31, 2015. We had an exceptional time visiting and playing with our young citizens and parents. Thank you for recognizing the service of our area public servants.
