Introduction

I would like to take a few moments to introduce myself to those who haven't met me yet. I have worked in and around the law enforcement field for over 15 years. I have served as an administrator in all aspects of the job: Jail administration, road officer supervisor and as a department head. I was born and raised in Oregon County where I graduated high school. My goal was to go into music and agriculture education. God had other plans for me. I began working in law enforcement, as my grandfather before me.
I started off as a dispatcher/jailer working hard to improve my knowledge of law enforcement. I graduated from the Missouri Sheriffs Association Training Academy at Missouri State University in West Plains, then immediately began working as a road officer, quickly rising through the ranks. I have served as the Chief of Police for several years at the Van Buren Police Department building a devastated department from the 2017 flood, to a highly organized and respected agency. Throughout my career in Law Enforcement my goal has always been to continue to grow my knowledge to better my community. I am a POST approved law enforcement instructor for many topics to include but not limited to: Rural drug crimes, search warrant, firearms, law enforcement administrative functions, jail and so much more. I have had the pleasure of assisting the Carter County Sheriffs Office as an investigator, trainer and grant writer for several years now. God has blessed me with a wonderful family. My wife, Leah is a Deputy Circuit Clerk for Carter County and is a wonderful mom to our children Zander and Zoey. We have a little farm in Fremont, loving life and thanking God for our life every day. Currently I am very active in my community serving in many capacities. I am an active member of the Carter County Treatment Court team, member of the Carter County Republican committee, and President of the Carter County Missouri Extension Council.
I have many ideas to continue our growth in service to our citizens as your Sheriff. Communication with our citizens must always be a top priority. One of the things I will be implementing is community meetings in each area of the county. Each community in Carter County have different problems that cannot be combated without the support and communication between our Sheriff's Office and our citizens. These meetings will be for information sharing, and so our citizens can meet and get to know the deputies. With limited resources our office must be close with the community to serve the best we can. Drug crimes will not go unanswered. My entire career in law enforcement has been focused on drug crimes. I am not a magician, but we will remind folks that if you sell drugs in our communities get ready to move into a jail cell. I look forward to meeting more and more folks as the days continue, and I am excited to serve you as your new Sheriff.
